Tour day three - part two

Today we learned about how Tel Aviv was started, just a hundred years ago. Pretty much just built right in the sand, but they started right away using the ancient language of Hebrew in the first school, theatre and so on. Of course they had to moderniz it for words that didn't exist before, like electricity. It turned out to be the foundation that was need a few decades later to create a new state with its own language. This monument celebrates the beginnings of Tel Aviv.

Back on the bus on our way to our nursery stop

We also learn about the two kinds of villages, kibbutz and another word that this app will not let me type.

Lior (correct spelling) carefully explains all this as we drive close to a section of the wall along the west bank. I have a photo but it is too hard to see. Anyway another big discussion about the wall and the military and lots more was learned.

These are children in the communal living arrangement of the kibbutz. The nursery we visited is more or less commonly owned by the members or shareholders. It is more private living nowadays than years before, when there was common dining areas and even a children's sleeping building where kids slept from a young age. Lior tells us he and his wife live in a kibbutz as renters because they like the close community and good schools.

Houses are close together and all the kids run and play in a safe, close shared property.
