Things have been quite tranquil around the lamb pens, until...

the noticeably greener grass across the fence became an issue. We decided it was time to expand their world into the next pasture. It was easy enough to lure the first mama through the gate. She is big, lean and hungry. And the babies follow her everywhere.

She would have kicked up her hooves like her younguns but she was too busy relishing all the lush green acres ahead of her.

Our second mama follows tentatively through the gate, not sure her smaller babes are ready for the open range.

Speaking of babes, do you notice anything different?

take a second look...

here, I'll zoom in for you:

Yep, tails are gone, except for Rowena. She's holding out for fashion's sake.

Sort of gives them a bare bottom look, don't you think? But, back to the story...

We had no idea that this simple change of pasture would cause a serious surge of anxiety to these guys. Turns out they take their role as flock protector very seriously and we had just put their charges in dangerous territory with no way for them to stand guard.

What followed was some fence breaking, yard chasing and gate busting until all were reunited once again.

Now that the fences have been repaired all is peaceful and playful once again. Until these little guys figure out that somebody needs to get pushed off that stump before another can be King.
