Melting snow from Tibet flows down the Mekong river, combines with 3 other rivers and backfills this lake of Tonle Sap during rainy season, until its twice the size of Lake Erie. One million People live on the lake in either floating villages or 3 story stilted houses. Then in the dry season the lake drains out to a fraction of its size and their house is on dry land or they move it if it floats.
The combination of poverty and tourism means children beg or try to sell goods, services(like a back rub ) or experience (like handling a muzzled snake). Even the toddlers help to row their boat. There are restaurants, shops, schools and churches. Fascinating place, actually it's a flooded forest.
