Noted as the 7th wonder of the world, these temples of the Angkor kings date to 13th and 16th centuries. We had time for Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom (with the tree roots), and Angkor Thom (with 56 giant towers of blocks, each carved with 4 faces). These are still temples where monks come for at least 6 months to contemplate and find themselves. The wall carvings are extensive, the blocks quarried from 70 km away. Some temples are still undiscovered in the forest, land mines from Khmer time make it too dangerous.
