Of course we always knew that rams get sold before they turn into mutton. But now that we're talking about weighing them it's a little different.
But then I read the article in the paper this morning about the fair and the little 10-year-old girl kissing her prize steer. Her comments summed up the real farm life perspective. She mentioned how her large animal would bring lots of meat and so she knew why she had won over $3000 - because of the price per pound of course. Then she mentioned how he was such an nice cow with a good personality and would never be mean to anybody. Somehow she had reconciled all of that in her little head.
So I guess I can too. At least we'll keep Rowena -she has a bright future of motherhood.
Of course hubby knew it would come to this all along!
