Wild Eyes

I have a little catching up to do on farm stories, sorry to keep you in suspense.

So we decided to move our cows to a pasture across the river, because let's face it, cows are messy.

Even if they are pregnant and going to have darling calves soon.  Plus our pasture is getting over grazed.

They were a little challenging to load, as you can see these little girls have gotten pretty hefty.  And when Violet decides to change her mind about stepping into that trailer, you better have your gates well secured.  There is a nice little dent in one of them that she left us as a keepsake.

They were pretty excited about all that grass.  Flower paused just long enough to turn and say goodbye and then they were off.  We do check on them regularly and I will bring you new calf news when it is available.
So that left just our sheep to graze the field, but of course we had to move them to safer grazing because of the coyote problem (3 sightings so far but we haven't been able to get a good shot).

Just when things were quieting down we had this young girl come running onto the yard - a runaway from about a mile away.  She is a wild-eyed crazy calf who thinks she has missed the party somewhere.

Her owner finally came by to get her but she was not having it (see note above about strong-willed calves).  Apparently our fences are the only ones in the neighborhood that can keep her in so for now, she's a farm resident.

I think she likes the view of the neighbor herd and their little newbies.
