Since we never got to do any real camping this summer, last night was a special treat. The fire was blazing hot thanks to hubby so we had to duct tape extenders on our grilling sticks and shield our bodies behind plywood.

It only rained a little bit and then we had a lovely time with friends around the fire.

We never got through the whole pile of wood so we may have to do this again. These photos are more about the subjects than the quality photography. You see I had to take them one-handed with a point & shoot, sometimes upside down. Because I was licking my lips and holding onto this:

I can't believe I am nearly a senior citizen and have never before been introduced to such fabulous campfire food. It takes a little time to grill but before long the bacon begins sizzle and drip in the fire and the mushroom inside gets steamed to perfection. YUM!!! You must try this, even if you have to fire up the barbie or the broiler. Mushroom lovers - it's a hit!

Then hubby decided he was not to be outdone so he makes a fast trip to his garden and comes back with the last few ears of his delicious crop. They steam themselves in the husks right in the coals and are delicious as well. Top it off with Lois's warm blackberry cobbler and you almost forget you're having a hotdog dinner.
