Problema

Shortly before the wedding that we hosted on our property, I noticed something amiss in our backyard. It seemed that no matter how much I watered this one spot it just started turning darker and darker. And soon I noticed it was sort of in the shape of a rectangle. Puzzling, I thought, but didn't pay much more attention b/c the big W was upon us.




But then after all the guests had left and the lawn items were all picked up I noticed this - a definitely rectangle-shaped brown spot on my lawn. Turns out that is the exact shape of the, ahem, septic tank underneath our lovely green turf. Turns out it will probably not support grass right there in that rectangle shape, at least not through any heat of summer.





Any ideas of how to deal with this? As you can see I have tried to camouflage this with some very excellent performing tree hydrangeas (they were supposed to look this good at the wedding but missed by about a week).






However they are not really a fix in the long run. Maybe a bench in between with bark dust, lots of bark dust.
