It's all in the Teeth

I have been able to spend a lovely amount of time this Memorial Day weekend just doing what I please. And usually that means working on photos in some way. I have a "little" catching up to do so I first wanted to make sure I had everything chronologically arranged. Thank goodness that the age of digital photos keeps dates stored with photo files. Not so back in the days of film & prints.
So after many hours of putting things into the correct year or school grade I offer this handy list of the diverse ways I used to order endless family photos:

How many candles on the cake and who is blowing them out.
Length of hair, or lack thereof in case of small child
Youngest child present
Details of youngest child such as crawling, walking, diapered, bottle, binky
Matching outfit worn in similar, dated photo
Teeth - baby teeth, missing teeth, position of permanent teeth or braces
Lunchpail - indicating child in school
Carpet and wallpaper in background
Text on T shirts that identifies an event or year
Matching dresses indicating Easter
Broken Limbs or Stitches

Auwwwwww, Allison!

Thank the Lord with me for this baby's safe arrival, she's 2 weeks early and just under 5 pounds. I'm a great-aunt, again!

Best Weekend Quotables

I am always tickled by the wit & smiles that are all around me. Especially b/c I am not very witty or funny, I sort of envy those that are. Enjoy a few of my favorites from the last few days:

Heard from son, who just experienced sky-diving for the first time, "...after the chute opened up, it got all quiet and peaceful like". To which his dad replied, "yeah, but that happens when you die, too".

Exclaimed by the daughter who just opened a large check from the sale of her field plants, "wow, that's like enough for an alpaca leg!"

And lastly, here's one from one of daughter's gorgeous, blonde friends. We had just driven onto a ferry in order to cross one of the local rivers, and as we began to feel the movement of the water, I turned to chat with the teen girls sitting in my car. Suddenly she looked at me with shock and fear on her face and said, "You need to be watching the road!" :)

Good to Know

Overheard when Dad receives the results from his test, "I wonder what 'Bloodwork: Normal' means?

Teenage daughter's answer: "That just means you're not an alien"!!

Best Selections

So these are some photos I just can't stop looking at. Sometimes you just have to stop and catch the moment. Stop and realize your baby is in black heels, kids are wearing cuff links. Stop to soak in youth and enjoy the wonder of a teenager.

Look, up there, where?

I had too much fun this weekend with so much photo material to shoot. These kids all came to our house to board the white limo, rented in their honor for a very special evening. So me and all the other parents clicked off gig after gig of photos - the goofy, the girly and the wise-guy. The biggest blessing was knowing they all returned safely to their beds in the wee hours of the morning.
