So today I will share the great fun I had in moving the sunrise. I have been watching for the most lovely sunrise to photograph for quite some time. (All of this photo envy comes from reading too many photo blogs.) But I discovered that for either a sunrise or sunset the real problem was having a gorgeous horizon. Most of the horizons within walking distance have buildings, telephone poles or other unnatural shapes on them. The only truly photogenic spot is my river view. So when I saw the most lovely sunrise developing I ran down to the river only to find out that the sunrise glory was a good 18 degrees to the south. (I just love real life that includes geometry!)
Here comes the creative part: so what I did was take the river photo first and the colorful sunrise photo coming up over the telephone pole and photo-shopped them together (yes, it is a verb). This is the result, the telephone pole even slid nicely behind one of my river trees. Only please don't look too close b/c I am totally new at this and some of my trees look a little eerie after the whole ordeal. But still, I just love it - hope you do too!
Now if I was as smart as the teacher that showed us this trick I could also reflect the sky into the water complete with ripples in all the right places. Or if I was God. Or if I was patient and waited another 2 months when God really does move the sunrise over my river view.
