Yeah, I know - a post is way past due. Well here's a light-hearted episode that totally made my morning. And if you have given up reading this blog then you will miss this little bit of joy!
My cell phone rings while I'm in deep concentration in my office (as I always am, :))
"Hello, Mom? (no pause) you'll never guess what happened. I was like, standing by my locker right and then so&so came up and said, yeah, open it, and ..."
By this time I had gone through my memorized list of daughter's voices and daughter-in-law-to-be voices (that was just for Ashley) and had pretty much ruled out that I was the mom of this voice on the other end of the phone. So what I need is a polite pause to tell her so...
"and so I open it and they had, like, wall-papered the inside of my locker! And they had put these little whatevers all over it and, It was so awesome - blah - blah - blah, like, blah-blah and then I turned around and you won't believe this, Paul was standing right there watching me the WHOLE time ..."
Purely enjoying this by now, I thought I really should do the kind thing and save the poor dear any further embarassment. So I let her go just a wee bit longer and with a very big smile interrupted her and asked if she knew she was speaking to someone with my name.
BIG PAUSE!
"Omigosh!, I'm so sorry...." dial tone.........
Random phone calls - sometimes they're really phun!
